TNT Optimizer
Fabric mod · Minecraft 26.2 · server-side

Blow up everything.
Keep your TPS.

TNT Optimizer merges stacked TNT, spreads huge chain reactions across ticks instead of freezing the server, and makes each explosion cheaper to compute. Players join with a plain vanilla client.

What it does

Everything runs on the server. Most of the explosion work gives exactly the same result as vanilla, just faster.

Merging

Stacked TNT becomes one entity

Primed TNT with the same position, velocity, fuse and settings is merged into one entity that remembers how many it stands for. The count is saved with the entity, so it survives chunk unloads, restarts and portals.

Limits

Chain reactions roll, not freeze

At most 150 TNT explosions and 25 ms of explosion work per tick. TNT over the limit has its fuse held a tick at a time. Nothing is deleted, and at least one explosion always happens per tick.

Exact

Faster explosion maths

Each block is looked up once per explosion instead of at every ray step. Line-of-sight checks are reused for repeated blasts at one spot, and skipped when only air is in the way.

Network

Fewer explosion packets

Explosions at the exact same point in the same tick reach each player as one packet, with knockback added up, so clients aren't flooded with sounds and particles.

Commands

Open to every player.

CommandWhoWhat it does
/tntstats Everyone Shows primed TNT (real count vs. entities), queued explosions, and how much has been merged, delayed and fired.

How close to vanilla?

Honest notes on what changes compared to an unmodded server.

FeatureEffect on vanilla behaviour
Block raycast cacheNone. Same blocks, same random numbers, same order.
Exposure cache & open-air shortcutNone, unless another mod changes blocks in an unusual way.
MergingNone for TNT that is truly identical; anything different is never merged.
Per-tick limitsUnder heavy load, some explosions happen a few ticks later than vanilla would fire them.
Packet mergingPlayers hear one sound and see one big particle for a stacked blast instead of many.

Install

Server only. Players don't need to install anything.

  1. Set up a Fabric server for Minecraft 26.2 with Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or newer, running on Java 25.
  2. Download Fabric API for 26.2 and put it in the server's mods folder.
  3. Put tntoptimizer-2.0.0.jar in the same mods folder and start the server.
  4. Run /tntstats in game or in the console to check that it's working.

Building from source

Needs JDK 25. Settings live as constants at the top of TntOptimizer.java and ExplosionOptimizer.java.
